Update on Pending Pro-Gun Legislation in Kansas!

Monday, March 24, 2008

Please Contact Your State Representative Today!

This morning, Monday, March 24, the Kansas House of Representatives unanimously (116-0) passed House Bill 2811.  HB2811 would protect our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and prevent gun confiscations during a declared state of emergency such as occurred in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, as well as in the wake of the tornado that ravaged Greensburg.  The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.  Please continue checking your email and www.NRAILA.org for updates.

P
lease contact your State Representative today and thank him or her for voting in favor of this important piece of legislation.  Contact information can be found by clicking here.

Also being considered by the Kansas House is Senate Bill 46, legislation introduced by State Senator Phil Journey (R-26).  This bill was amended and passed by the State House Committee on Federal and State Affairs to include language that would allow Kansas firearm retailers, manufacturers, importers, and citizens qualified under the National Firearms Act to sell, manufacture, import, and possess Class III firearms.  Federal law already allows this for all 50 states, but current Kansas statutes prevent law-abiding citizens from possessing these firearms.  In its original form, SB46 sought to make it a felony to deface the serial number or identifying mark of a firearm.

Please respectfully encourage your State Representative to support the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Kansans.
