Oklahoma House Considers Conference Committee Action on Parking Lot Expansion Bill!

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Please Contact Your State Representative TODAY!

On April 26, the Oklahoma Senate passed House Bill 1652, the NRA-backed “Parking Lot/Employee Protection” expansion bill. This legislation passed by an overwhelming bipartisan 41 to 6 vote and will now be sent to a conference committee. Due to slight variations in the House and Senate versions, HB 1652 was sent to the Conference Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary & Military Affairs before getting final approval by both bodies and sent to Governor Mary Fallin.

House Bill 1652 would allow concealed carry permit holders to lock their firearms in their vehicles on technology center campuses, as well as parking lots set aside for use by governmental entities and professional sporting events. HB 1652 is authored by state Representative John Enns (R-41) and is sponsored by state Senators Steve Russell (R-45) and Anthony Sykes (R-24).

Please contact members of the Conference Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary & Military Affairs to respectfully urge their support of HB 1652. Committee members need to hear from you TODAY, as they are being pressured by anti-gun opponents and lobbyists to weaken or kill the bill.
