Concealed Carry Legislation Advances in Nevada

On May 30, Senate Bill 126, introduced by state Senators James Settelmeyer (R-Capitol Senatorial) and John Lee (D-1), passed in the Assembly by a 40-2 vote.  Once this bill is engrossed, it will be transmitted to Governor Brian Sandoval for his approval.

SB 126 would streamline the CCW permit application and qualification process to allow a permit applicant to qualify with any semi-automatic pistol, similar to the current process for any revolver.

Yesterday, Governor Sandoval signed Assembly Bill 143 into law.  Introduced by state Assemblyman David Bobzien (D-24), AB 143 is similar in nature to SB 126 regarding the use of any semi-automatic pistol and any revolver to qualify for a CCW permit.  AB 143 also ensures that the identity of Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit holders is kept confidential.
