Voter Registration and Eligibility
Must register to vote 30 days before the election.
Can select party affiliation at the polls.

QUALIFICATIONS

To register to vote in the state of Alaska, an individual must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a Citizen of the United States
  • Be at Least 18 years old or will be within 90 days of completing this application
  • Be a resident of Alaska
  • If you have been convicted of a felony, you may still be eligible to register to vote if you have been unconditionally discharged. Provide a copy of your discharge papers with this registration application.

OBTAINING A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM

Can register to vote in person or obtain a mail-in application from:

     •     All Division of Motor Vehicle offices

     •     City or Borough Clerk Offices (see list of County Election Offices)

     •     Voter registrar in your community

     •     Agencies serving disabled persons

     •     Health and Social Services offices

     •     Community and Economic Development offices

     •     Recruitment offices of the armed forces of the United States located in Alaska

     •     Division of Elections Office Obtain an voter registration application online here.

 

ALASKA ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Who Can Absentee Vote in Alaska?

Any registered voter may opt to vote by absentee ballot. Voters may absentee vote in person, by mail, by fax, or by personal representative.

How Can I Acquire an Absentee Ballot?

In Person:

Voters may apply and vote in person as early as 15 days before an election and no later than Election Day. Ballots for all 40 districts are available at all regional elections offices.

     •     Anchorage- 2525 Gambell St, Suite 100

     •     Fairbanks - State Office Building, 675 7th Ave., Suite H3

     •     Juneau - Mendenhall Mall, 9109 Mendenhall Mall Road, Suite 3

     •     Nome - State Office Building

Ballots for all 40 districts are available at the following airports on Tuesday (Election Day only) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

     •     Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport (Domestic Terminal, car rental area)

     •     Fairbanks International Airport (1st floor, by the escalator)

     •     Juneau International Airport

     •     Ketchikan International Airport

     •     Kodiak Airport

     •     Sitka Airport

 By Mail:

You may use the Absentee By Mail Ballot Application to:

Request an absentee by mail ballot. If you are already registered to vote, your application must be received 10 days prior to election day.
