On May 20th, the Alaska Legislature adjourned sine die from the 2026 legislative session. During this session, Senate Bill 243, removing suppressors from the controlled weapons list at the state level, gained momentum but was unable to cross the finish line. NRA will actively work to bring this legislation back for the 2027 session.
In addition, pro-Second Amendment lawmakers did their duty to ensure that Senate Bill 203, a hardware ban expanding prohibitions beyond federal law, and all "red flag" proposals were defeated this session.
NRA will be back in Juneau in 2027 to keep fighting for the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates.
