Idaho: Pro-Hunting Legislation Passes House Committee

Friday, February 14, 2014

Earlier this week, House Bill 399 passed in the House Resources and Conservation Committee with a do-pass recommendation and is now awaiting consideration on the House floor.  HB 399 seeks to lower the minimum age to hunt big game from twelve years to ten years, while retaining the requirement that an individual younger than twelve must be accompanied in the field by an adult licensed to hunt in Idaho.  This legislation seeks to recruit and retain more hunters in the Gem State through expansion of hunting rights to more individuals and encouraging younger generations to take up this sport.  It will also keep economic resources in the state and bring in additional revenue through increased sales of resident junior big game tags and non-resident junior mentored big game tags.

Your NRA urges you to contact your state Representative and urge him or her to support HB 399.  Your Representative's contact information can be found here.  Your NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this legislation as it moves through the Idaho Legislature.  As always, check your e-mail and www.nraila.org for updates.
