Come participate in a discussion on "Crime, Guns and Race" hosted by the Connecticut Black Republicans and Conservatives (CBRAC) and the Connecticut chapter of The Frederick Douglass Foundation (CTFDF). The event will be held on October 11, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. -- 12:00 p.m., at the Mark Twain Museum in Hartford, CT. Featured speakers will include NRA Board Member Ken Blackwell; Prof. Nicholas Johnson, author of “Negroes and the Gun”; Garland Hunt, Governor Appointee to Georgia State Pardon and Paroles, and others.
The forum will consist of two panels. The first panel, moderated by Regina V. Roundtree, founder of CBRAC and President of CTFDF, will discuss the intersections of criminal justice, race, second amendment rights and the history of guns in the black community. The second panel, moderated by Richard Ivory of HipHopRepublican.com, will discuss the use of social media and messaging in politics, as well as black conservatism. Both panels will be open to questions and answers from the public.
There will also be an evening cocktail reception where attendees can "Meet & Greet" the speakers. The reception will be held in West Hartford from 6:00 -- 9:00 p.m.
