On September 14, your lawmakers will reconvene in Jefferson City and vote to override Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of pro-gun, self-defense legislation, Senate Bill 656. SB 656 will expand Missourians’ right to protect themselves and their families. It is imperative that your legislators hear from you now!
Senate Bill 656 seeks to expand the fundamental right to self-defense of Missourians. Senate Bill 656 was passed out of the Legislature with overwhelming support during the 2016 Regular Session before being vetoed by Governor Nixon. Please contact your legislators immediately and urge them to vote to override Governor Nixon’s veto of SB 656.
Former New York City mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety, has targeted Missouri this September in an attempt to prevent the veto override. If Everytown had its way, the Second Amendment would be repealed and your fundamental right to self-defense would be stripped away. That would include the rights of Kristi McMains, a law-abiding gun owner whose story of survival would never be told if Everytown’s outrageous political agenda ever became law.
The NRA has publicly condemned the veto of Senate Bill 656 by Governor Nixon, and now your legislators need to hear from YOU in order to override the veto. Please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Senator and state Representative and urge them to support the override of Governor Nixon’s veto of Senate Bill 656. Urge them not to bow to out-of-state, anti-gun interests by letting New York-style gun control come to Missouri.
