South Carolina: Please Attend the Final Special “Gun Issues” Committee Hearing This Week

While the South Carolina General Assembly is not currently in session, a special committee of state Senators will be holding their fourth, and final, public hearing to discuss “gun issues” in South Carolina. The hearing will be held by the Senate Gun Issues Special Committee, chaired by state Senator Gerald Malloy (D-29).  Also serving on the committee are Senators Chip Campsen (R-43), Chauncey Gregory (R-16), Greg Hembree (R-28), and Marlon Kimpson (D-42).

It is critical that NRA members and others who support our rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment show up to this hearing and express their opposition to any new gun laws that will do nothing to thwart violent criminals and will only affect law-abiding citizens.  Testimony slots are limited, and are assigned on a first-come basis, so please keep that in mind when planning your attendance.  You can be sure that former New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg will use his anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety, to promote these hearings as a vehicle to inspire the filing of countless bills designed to eradicate our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

This is the last hearing. The meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, October 27.  Meeting details can be found below.

Thursday, October 27, 2016
6:00 - 8:00 pm
SC Statehouse Complex
L. Marion Gressette Building, Room 105
1101 Pendleton Street
Columbia, SC 29201

Street and garage parking available nearby and information regarding visiting the statehouse grounds can be found at http://www.scstatehouse.gov/visit.php.  Also, the hearing will be streamed online at http://www.scstatehouse.gov/meetings.php?chamber=S.  Simply click on Live Broadcast under the meeting notice and a blue screen will appear until the hearing begins.
