California: NRA and CRPA Attorneys to Host Webinar on Recently Adopted Regulations for Home-Built Firearms

On Thursday, June 28, NRA and CRPA attorneys will be hosting a free webinar regarding Assembly Bill 857 (2016) and DOJ’s recently adopted regulations. Signed into law in 2016 as part of the “Gunmageddon” package of bills, AB 857 will drastically change the way in which law-abiding individuals can make home-built firearms by first requiring them to apply for and receive a DOJ-approved serial number that must then be engraved onto the firearm.  Specifically, this webinar will cover California laws and procedures regarding the required registration of “self-manufactured” or “self-assembled” firearms like those made from “80%” receivers. NRA opposed this legislation in 2016 as well as provided comments during the regulatory period.

The webinar is scheduled to begin at 12 P.M. PST and is expected to run for approximately 1.5 hours. If you are unable to attend, don’t worry; a recording will be saved and archived for later viewing. Should you wish to attend the live broadcast, be sure to register in advance as space is limited.

*Reminder: Deadline to Register or Modify Assault Weapons is Days Away!

The deadline for gun owners to register their firearms as “assault weapons” or modify them to be compliant with the restrictions that resulted from SB 880 and AB 1135 (2016) must be completed by 11:59:59 P.M. on June 30, 2018.  NRA opposed these bills in the legislature and have continued the fight by supporting ongoing litigation efforts. To help gun owners understand the requirements of this law, NRA and CRPA attorneys have prepared comprehensive webinars and additional guides which are available by clicking on the links below:
