Two Gun Control Measures Up in Committee on Monday in Santa Fe

On Monday, January 30th, two NRA-opposed bills will be heard in separate committee meetings at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe. 

First, House Bill 9​by Rep. Pamela Herndon (D-ABQ), a firearm owner liability bill, will be heard in the House Judiciary Committee starting at 1:30pm in Room 309 (Zoom Link). The bill creates back-door gun storage requirements by imposing criminal penalties on firearms owners if a third-party minor displays, brandishes or uses their firearm to commit a crime or injure someone. ​Please make plans to attend Monday's hearing in-person or remotely and voice your opposition to this measure. Also, contact the committee members below and urge them to OPPOSE HB 9.

Second, SB116 by Sen. Carrie Hamblen (D-Las Cruces), which discriminates against law-abiding young adults aged 18-20 by prohibiting them from purchasing or possessing a semiautomatic firearm -- with limited exceptions, will be heard in the Senate Health and Public Affairs Committee starting at 1:30pm in Room 311 (Zoom Link). Please make plans to attend Monday's hearing in-person or remotely and voice your opposition to this measure. Also, contact the committee members below and urge them to OPPOSE SB 116.
