The House Committee on Federal and State Affairs voted to pass House Bill 2304, a bill that expands access and standardizes firearm safety education for schools. HB 2304 is now up for debate and a vote on the House Floor. As reported, the Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 116, passed the Senate and advanced to the House. House Bill 2304 establishes grade-appropriate curricula guidelines to teach firearm safety to students of all ages. It is based on NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism’s existing Hunter Education In Our Schools.
