Kansas: Firearm Safety Education sent to the Governor’s Desk

House’s Lowering Carry Permit Fee Bill Advances to the Senate

Today, March 29, the Senate voted 31-8, to pass House Bill 2304, a bill that expands access and standardizes firearm safety education for schools. It has been sent to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.  Earlier this month, HB 2304 passed the House of Representatives 78-43. Your immediate assistance is needed! Please contact Governor Kelly and urge her to sign HB 2304 into law.

Also, the House voted 91-33 to pass House Bill 2412, a bill that eliminates state agency fees for concealed carry permits, reducing the fee total to the applicant’s county sheriff fee of $32.50. HB 2412 has been sent to the Senate. Please contact your Senator and urge them to SUPPORT HB 2412.

House Bill 2304 establishes grade-appropriate curricula guidelines to teach firearm safety to students of all ages. It is based on NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism’s existing Hunter Education In Our Schools. NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program has been teaching firearm-accident prevention for over 30 years, to help keep our children safe. As a result, the program has reached over 32 million children in all 50 states, plus Canada and Puerto Rico. For more information on this wonderful program, visit the website.

Please contact Governor Kelly to sign HB 2304 into law, and your Senator to urge them to SUPPORT HB 2412, which eliminates most of the financial burden of carry fees for law-abiding citizens. Additionally, please share this alert with your family and friends, and ask them to do the same. Stay tuned to your inbox and www.nraila.org for updates.
