HB 1588 removes the obligation of reporting to law enforcement upon any contact that you are carrying a concealed firearm when doing so without a concealed carry permit. The bill also reduces the penalty for carrying at a public gathering from an infraction to a noncriminal offense of $100. Additionally, the bill authorizes the State Board of Higher Education the ability to allow guns on school property and in buildings as well as other positive improvements to the state's concealed carry laws.
