The United States Supreme Court refused to hear the state's appeal to overturn a lower court decision that removed the state’s ban on concealed carry permits for individuals aged 18-20. The Eight Circuit Court of Appeals' decision struck down the ban last year.
On top of this victory, gun control bills in the legislature have gained little traction this session. NRA is continuing to monitor over 100 firearm-related bills and is working against gun control bills to ensure they do not advance to Governor Walz' desk.
Bills of Note:
SF 1595 prohibits the use of lead ammunition when hunting and prohibits the sale, manufacturer, and use of lead tackle for fishing.
SF 1596 prohibits the sale or transfer of a semi-automatic "military-style assault weapon" and authorizes a buyback program.
SF 658, which was defeated last legislative session, criminalizes the failure to report a lost or stolen firearm.
HF 1318 requires persons purchasing a firearm be trained in firearm safety.
