On May 21st, the Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2025 legislative session. During this session, Senate Bill 136, which protects the privacy of firearm owners by prohibiting the use of firearm and ammunition specific merchant category codes by payment processors, advanced out of its first committee with overwhelming support and will return for further consideration and advancement in the Senate next session.
In addition, pro-Second Amendment lawmakers did their duty to ensure that House Bill 89, a red flag bill “relating to gun violence protective orders," and House Bill 134, mandatory firearm storage requirements, were defeated this session.
Thank you to NRA members who supported our efforts to protect Alaskans’ Second Amendment rights in Juneau this session; we were successful because of you!
