On Monday, HB 1324, legislation to remove firearm suppressors from Georgia’s list of dangerous weapons and eliminate state-level penalties for possession, moved out of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee and will now head to the House Rules Committee for further consideration. Additionally, SB 499, companion legislation containing similar reforms, was heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee and is expected to be heard again this week. Please use the Take Action button below to contact your legislators and urge them to SUPPORT HB 1324 and SB 499.
SB 499 and HB 1324 would remove firearm suppressors from the list of dangerous weapons and eliminate state-level penalties for possession, while keeping suppressors subject to strict federal regulation under the National Firearms Act and leaving enhanced criminal penalties for unlawful use unchanged.
NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this legislation and keep Georgia gun owners informed of further developments affecting their Second Amendment rights.
