Today, Georgia General Assembly adjourned sine die from the 2026 session, with Senate Bill 204 receiving final passage before the final gavel fell after midnight. Senate Bill 204 strengthens the state's preemption law by expanding standing and including penalties for violations.
Unfortunately, Senate Bill 499, the state-level suppressor bill, fell short of the finish line this session. SB 499 would have removed firearm suppressors from the list of dangerous weapons and eliminate state-level penalties for mere possession. Suppressors would remain subject to strict federal regulation under the National Firearms Act.
NRA thanks all members and fellow Second Amendment advocates who engaged with their legislators this session. NRA will return to Atlanta for the 2027 legislative session. Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for future updates.
