Mementos Reveal Civil Rights Icon's Exposure to Armed Self-Defense
On Wednesday, the Library of Congress made the Rosa Parks Collection available to researchers. The compilation includes 2,500 photos and 7,500 manuscripts pertaining to the civil rights icon. Among these documents is a short autobiographical piece highlighting some of Parks’ early experiences with armed self-defense.

NRA Backs Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2015
The National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) announced its support for The Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2015, introduced by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). This legislation seeks to protect and enhance opportunities for recreational hunting, shooting and fishing.

Back in November, we reported on Israeli Public Security Minister, Yitzhak Aharonovitch, announcing a decision to relax the rules governing the carrying of firearms in the wake of the murder of four Orthodox Jewish men and a police officer in a West Jerusalem Temple by terrorists armed with knives, axes and a gun.  We noted then that Israeli officials had rightly recognized the protective benefits of "good guys" with guns.

According to the FBI's 2013 crime report for the nation, in the United States, there’s a violent crime every 27.1 seconds, a robbery every 1.5 minutes and a burglary every 16.4 seconds.  We all hope crime won't happen to us, but would you be ready if your home or family were next?  Fortunately for one quick thinking young girl, she was ready, and was able to protect herself and do just enough to thwart a home invasion.

Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act Introduced
U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and U.S. Representative Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) recently introduced S. 263 and H.R. 578, which are designed to protect the rights of gun owners on lands owned or managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps).  This legislation would help end the patchwork of firearm laws and regulations that govern different federal lands managed by different federal agencies.
