Your Action Urgently Needed to Prevent BATFE from Banning Common Rifle Ammunition!
Oppose BATFE's Expansion of the Federal "Armor Piercing" Ammo Ban and Tell Congress to Act! President Obama insisted that if Congress would not enact his gun control agenda, he would do so on his own, through executive action. Whatever else can be said of the president’s track record, he is doing his utmost to keep that promise. Having failed to enact a federal ban on the AR-15, America’s most popular rifle, he’s now using the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to do the next best thing. BATFE is now proposing to ban a whole class of common rifle ammunition used in that overwhelmingly popular firearm. Unfortunately, that's just the beginning of BATFE's latest move and we need your help to stop them.

Current Status of Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Legislation in the U.S. Congress
Recently, a number of NRA-supported Right-to-Carry Reciprocity bills have been introduced in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.  NRA fully supports efforts to require states to respect an individual’s right to self-defense no matter what state they are in.  Below is the status of each bill, as of this writing.  NRA urges you to please contact your elected officials to support these important measures.

Audio of Bloomberg’s Racially-Charged Gun Control Comments Surfaces
Last week, we reported on Michael Bloomberg’s controversial statements at the Aspen Institute regarding minorities and firearms. Now, despite the ex-mayor’s efforts to keep them from the general public, an audio recording of the remarks has surfaced.

New Jersey Man Faces 10-Years for 1760s Flintlock Pistol
In the past few years, New Jersey’s draconian gun laws have led to a number of outrageous legal abuses, including the cases of Brian D. Aitken and Shaneen Allen. Gross injustice in the Aitken and Allen matters was thwarted only by extraordinary intervention from the state’s executive branch. Hopefully, a new case involving the arrest of a 72-year-old man over a 250-year-old artifact will finally convince the state legislature to act.

Washington Post Shocker: Background Checks Don't Work
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, the editors of the Washington Post still support background checks on private firearm transactions, along with bans on detachable-magazine-fed semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic shotguns, and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. And they’ll call you a “coward” if you disagree.

Remaining Anti-Gunners in U.S. Senate Renew Push for Gun Control
Anti-gun U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and U.S. Representative Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.), have introduced their Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act (S. 407 and H.R. 752, respectively), in yet another attempt to ban magazines that accept more than 10 rounds.  Similar legislation has been introduced in previous Congresses, and has repeatedly failed since the expiration of the Clinton “large” magazine ban in 2004.

Legislation Introduced to Break Administrative Choke Hold on Firearm and Ammunition Vendors
In January, we reported on encouraging news that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) had taken steps to reassure banks that they are not categorically prohibited nor discouraged from servicing customers in the firearms and ammunition industries. Of course, the very fact that this should be considered newsworthy demonstrates just how bad the politically-motivated abuses of federal banking regulators, including but not limited to FDIC and Department of Justice (DOJ), had become. The supposed "enforcement" program at the center of this scandal, Operation Choke Point (OPC), has been the subject of considerable congressional attention. Recently, bills were introduced that seek to put a definitive end to the administration’s squeeze of what it considers "immoral" businesses operating within the law.
