As we recently reported, Vice-President Joe Biden has a knack for putting his foot in his mouth. Well, someone better find Biden a chair, because he’s now put his other foot in his mouth too.
What was Biden's comment this time? In an interview with Field and Stream, Biden said to people wanting to protect their homes, "…you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.”
As with his advice last week--that women who have to protect their homes and families from intruders should just walk outside and fire two blasts from a 12-gauge double barreled shotgun--the Vice-President is recommending actions that are reckless and potentially illegal in most cases.
His tactic, of course, is to promote the questionable claim that a gun that--for now, anyway--is not included in the massive new gun and magazine ban supported by the Obama administration is a better alternative firearm for self-defense than the semi-automatic rifles that have become overwhelmingly popular among gun buyers.
But once again, Biden's irresponsible advice makes it clear that he has, at best, a rudimentary knowledge of firearms and firearm safety. But beyond that, his advice is plainly irresponsible. And this is the man that's leading President Obama's firearm task force in Washington and lobbying state legislatures and attorneys general to restrict your right to keep and bear arms. Americans should say “No” to Biden’s tactical advice--and to his gun control agenda.
