Texas Two Important Self-Defense Reforms Need Your Help!

Friday, April 6, 2007

Next week, the Texas House will consider House Bill 258 sponsored by Representative Frank Corte (R-San Antonio).  This NRA-supported legislation is intended to prevent the seizure and confiscation of firearms from law-abiding citizens during a future state of emergency or natural disaster, such as occurred after Hurrican Katrina.  Please contact your State Representatives first thing Monday and urge them to support HB 258.  Contact information for your House members can be found by clicking here.

Additionally, big corporate groups are lobbying hard to prevent a vote by the Texas House on House Bill 992, the NRA-supported bill sponsored by State Representative Patrick Rose (D-Dripping Springs) that would allow Concealed Handgun Licensees to transport and store handguns in their locked motor vehicles while parked on their employers’ property.  This bill is currently in the House Calendars Committee, which decides if and when bills get set for consideration by the full House.

Please contact members of the Calendars Committee are listed below.  Ask them to place HB 992 on the calendar for consideration by the House of Representatives and to support HB 992 when it does come up for a vote.
