Self-Defense Bill Heads to New Hampshire Governor

Yesterday, the Conference Committee report for Senate Bill 88 was adopted in the state House by a 283 to 89 vote and in the state Senate by a 19 to 5 vote.  This legislation is now headed to Governor John Lynch for consideration.

Introduced by state Senator David Boutin (R-16), SB 88 contains much-needed self-defense reform for gun owners in New Hampshire.  As reported last week, the Conference Committee decided to remove a provision from SB 88 which would have created “permitless carry” and committee members failed to act on another amended version which was supported by the NRA.

SB 88 will restore an individual’s right to self-defense in New Hampshire.  This measure will reinstate the law prior to the time when criminal-coddling judges and courts started putting the rights of criminals before the rights of the law-abiding.

The National Rifle Association will continue to champion right-to-carry/self-defense measures in New Hampshire.  Throughout the remainder of the legislative session, the NRA will continue our efforts to work with the legislature and grassroots organizations to resolve the issue and establish “permitless carry” in the Granite State.
