The 2013 "Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium" was held on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the University of Denver in Colorado.
Sponsored by The NRA Foundation, the annual symposium focused on recent developments in our nation's courts regarding the Second Amendment, as well as topics that covered the historical, academic, and practical application of firearm law.
Over 100 lawyers, law students, and interested supporters attended the event that featured some of the nation's most noted Second Amendment attorneys. Panels featured various law practitioners addressing the most recent waves of firearm-related litigation at the federal and various state levels, as well as more detailed reviews of current topics such as "Stand Your Ground" laws and the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act. This year, Emily Miller, senior editor of the opinion pages at the Washington Times and author of "Emilly Gets Her Gun," served as the luncheon speaker.
The 2013 "Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium" proved again to be a very thought-provoking discussion of one of the most important freedoms in the Bill of Rights. To review the agenda from this year's event, please visit: /media/11932828/nralawsympagenda2013.pdf
Each year, NRA-ILA coordinates the "Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium" aiming to bring together NRA members, Second Amendment supporters, and luminaries from the legal community for discussions that help further an understanding of firearm-related issues that critically affect citizens. Attendees receive written materials from each panelist and participating attorneys usually receive free Continuing Legal Education credit.
