Last week, an attempt was made to hijack House Bill 1350 with an anti-gun amendment offered by Senator Jill Schupp (D-24) to criminalize private firearm transfers. HB 1350 is a bill related to background check requirements of in-home service providers and personal care attendants, and is completely unrelated to firearms.
Senator Schupp called for a roll call vote on the adoption of the amendment, which was voted down by 24 of her fellow Senators. Your NRA will continue to oppose attempts to restrict law-abiding adults from exercising their fundamental right to self-defense.
This attempt by Senator Jill Schupp was nothing more than political grandstanding. Anti-gun legislators, like Senator Schupp, will pursue similar gun control efforts throughout the legislative session. Please contact and thank the 24 state Senators who stood up for your Second Amendment rights and voted “no” on this anti-gun amendment. Click the “Take Action” button below to thank the 24 senators.
