Georgia: Pro-Gun Bills Making Big Steps in the Legislature

Help get these bills to the Governor

Two important pro-gun bills are moving through the Legislature: House Bill 218, universal recognition, and Senate Bill 319, Constitutional Carry, and they need your help. Please use our TAKE ACTION buttons below to help ensure these bills keep moving all the way to the Governor’s desk.

Last year, the House ran out of time and had to adjourn for the year, before they could concur on the Senate amendments to HB 218.  HB 218 is back and is expected to be heard and receive a vote in the full House. This important piece of pro-gun legislation grants universal recognition to concealed carry permits held by non-Georgia residents, issued by any other state. It also directs the Georgia Attorney General to enter into formal reciprocity agreements with any state that requires a formal agreement to recognize a Georgia Weapons Carry License. This reform recognizes that Georgia residents traveling to other states, and visitors to Georgia, should not be left defenseless simply by crossing a state line.

Please use the TAKE ACTION button below to respectfully urge your state representative to vote YES on HB 218 TOMORROW when it comes up on the floor for a vote.

More good news:  yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed SB 319, Constitutional Carry. SB 319 now moves to the Senate floor to be heard and receive a vote. We are also expecting a House Constitutional Carry Bill to be filed within the week.

Constitutional Carry is sweeping the nation. 21 states already have Constitutional Carry laws in place. Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin all have Constitutional Carry legislation working through the legislature right now.

Let 2022 be Georgia’s year to join the other states with Constitutional Carry and Second Amendment Freedom!

SB 319 allows a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.

SB 319 has not been placed on the calendar yet, but in the meantime, please contact your state senator and respectfully urge them to SUPPORT SB 319 when it comes to the floor.

Don’t forget to forward this email to your family, friends, and fellow gun owners and respectfully urge them to SUPPORT HB 218 and SB 319. Georgia needs all its law-abiding gun owners and Second Amendment supporters to help HB 218 and SB 319 continue to move through the legislative process to the Governor’s desk!
