Tennessee: Numerous Anti-Gun Bills are Slated for Action

This week, numerous anti-gun bills are scheduled for committee hearings in the Volunteer State. NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters must stay engaged this legislative session to help protect your rights in the Volunteer State! 

The following anti-gun bills are on the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee’s calendar for tomorrow, 2/20, at 12:00 p.m.

HB 1587 prohibits the manufacture of semi-automatic rifles. The Senate companion, SB 2952, was referred to the Senate Delayed Bills Committee.

HB 1589 prohibits the manufacture, transfer, or purchase of detachable ammunition magazines that hold ten or more rounds. The Senate companion, SB 2954, was referred to the Senate Delayed Bills Committee.

HB 1592 creates an offense if the owner of a firearm fails to report the loss or theft of the firearm to law enforcement within 24 hours. The Senate companion, SB 2957, was referred to the Senate Delayed Bills Committee.

HB 1593 requires all firearms sales and transfers to be done through a federally licensed dealer. The Senate companion, SB 2958, was referred to the Senate Delayed Bills Committee.

HB 1595 creates a committee to study the impacts of gun violence in the state. The Senate companion, SB 2960, was referred to the Senate Delayed Bills Committee.

HB 1935 prohibits sales of certain semi-automatic firearms depending on various features of the firearm. The Senate companion, SB 2290, was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

HB 1954 increases the penalty for transferring a firearm to a minor from a misdemeanor to a felony. The Senate companion, SB 2871, was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

HB 2329 makes permitless carry of a firearm an offense. The Senate companion, SB 2449, was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

HB 2336 prohibits the manufacture, distribution, sale, or transfer of 80% frames or lowers. The Senate companion, SB 2456, was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
