The House Public Safety committee has a busy week ahead of it. On Thursday, January 23rd, the Subcommittee on Firearms will hear a handful of gun-related bills. Any bills that receive a favorable report in the subcommittee will advance to the full Public Safety committee on Friday, January 24th.

Pro-Gun Bills in Committee
HB 1559 clarifies the current law concerning Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) renewals and reiterates that an individual seeking to renew a CHP does not have to undergo additional competency testing or training.
HB 2414 removes certain restrictions from the concealed carry permit process allowing individuals to attend live, online classes to obtain a CHP.
HB 2145 removes the 30-day restriction on new residents of Virginia to purchase and transfer firearms in the Commonwealth.
HB 2412 removed carry restrictions from highway rest areas.
Anti-Gun Bills in Committee
HB 1869 and HB 2241 expand prohibiting categories for certain misdemeanor crimes.
