The Indiana state legislature is starting to ramp up. Next week, House Bill 1074 legislation protecting firearm retailers from financial discrimination, may be taken up in the House Financial Institutions Committee. HB 1074, authored by Rep. Craig Haggard and co-authored by Rep. Hunter Smith, ensues firearm retailers in Indiana do not face discrimination because of the nature of their business. This includes protections against higher service fees, refusal to process lawful transactions or unwarranted termination of service agreements. Last week, the Indiana House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code passed House Bill 1137, which requires a court to expunge certain records related to protective orders if the court finds the underlying reason for the order no longer exists.
