Yesterday, Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 106 into law, expanding firearm rights in Iowa by allowing the carry of a loaded firearm while operating a snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
SF 106 strikes out the language in the law that had prohibited the carrying of a loaded firearm while operating a snowmobile or ATV. This change allows an operator to drive a snowmobile or ATV with loaded firearms if their conduct is otherwise lawful. Hunting off one of these vehicles is still prohibited unless otherwise authorized.
The NRA thanks Governor Reynolds, pro-gun lawmakers, and all NRA members and Second Amendment advocates for their engagement on this critical legislation.
