Connecticut: Remember to Attend Important Public Hearing on Monday!

Friday, January 25, 2013

Please remember to attend the “Gun Violence Prevention Working Group” public hearing on Monday, January 28 at 10 a.m. in Hartford.

If you plan on testifying at this public hearing, please make sure to arrive at 9:00 a.m. to sign up to speak.  Speaker order will be determined by a lottery at 12:15 p.m., and public testimony will begin at 1:30 p.m.  Please note, speakers will be limited to 3 minutes of testimony.  You may also choose to bring 30 copies of your testimony to share with members of the Task Force. Those arriving after the completion of the lottery will have their names placed at the end of the speaker list.

Input received at this public hearing will determine the direction the Connecticut General Assembly will take on our Second Amendment rights this legislative session. It is crucial that gun owners, sportsmen and supporters of the Second Amendment attend this hearing and firmly voice their opposition to ineffective anti-gun legislation that turns law-abiding citizens into victims or criminals!

Details regarding this public hearing can be found below:

Monday • January 28

9:00 a.m. to sign up to testify • 10 a.m. to attend the hearing

Legislative Office Building • Room 2C

300 Capitol Avenue • Hartford

Since the Connecticut General Assembly convened its 2013 legislative session, anti-gun legislators have been aggressively pursuing arbitrary and unconstitutional legislation. By participating in this hearing, either by testifying or simply being there, you will have a chance to stand up for freedom and voice your opposition to these misguided anti-gun proposals.

If you cannot attend this important public hearing, please contact your state legislators TODAY and tell them to oppose reactionary anti-gun legislation this session. We need our elected officials to understand that restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners is not the appropriate solution to reduce crime. Contact information for your state legislators can be found by clicking here.
