Texas: Urge Travis County Commissioners to Oppose Ban on Gun Shows in Taxpayer-Owned Facilities

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

While anti-Second Amendment politicians in Washington plot their national gun control agenda, local officials are taking direct aim at gun shows in the Austin area.

Travis County Commissioners, at the urging of their counterparts on the Austin City Council, are considering a proposal to ban gun shows on county-owned property and in public facilities.  Austin may even go further and attempt to restrict them on private property within city limits.

This measure would primarily affect events held at the Travis County Expo Center east of town.  Todd Beiter of Saxet Gun Shows has a contract with the county through January 2014.  He's been a law-abiding and responsible tenant who runs a safe and legal business.  This proposed ban is not in response to anything that has happened at Saxet events.

And if the county were to kick this tenant to the curb, not only would they lose the revenue from his contract, they could also face legal action.

Don't let this happen in Texas - even in a city whose official motto is "Keep Austin Weird!"  Protect your Second Amendment rights and your pocketbook - urge your county Commissioners to oppose any plan to end gun shows in taxpayer-owned facilities!
