Two pro-gun bills were introduced in the Wyoming State House this week that will further protect the Second Amendment rights of Wyoming firearm owners.
House Bill 137, introduced by State Representative Lorraine Quarber (R-28), is a “Castle Doctrine” bill and will provide immunity from prosecution and civil liability to law-abiding citizens who exercise their right of self-defense. HB137 will be scheduled for hearing in a House committee in the coming days.
House Bill 57, introduced by State Representative (R-18), would prevent the state of Wyoming from restricting the possession, transfer, sale, transport, storage, display, or use of firearms or ammunition during a declared state of emergency. HB57 will prevent government authorities from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens, such as occurred in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. HB57 will be heard by the House Judiciary Committee, but no date has been set.
