Unmasked! Oregon Gun Control Group Reveals Prohibitionist Manifesto

Elsewhere in today’s alert, we note that President Obama insisted to a group of police chief it’s “just a fact” that “young people” in various communities within the United States have more ready access to guns than to books or fresh vegetables.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the firearm prohibition advocacy group Ceasefire Oregon released a 10-page gun control manifesto that makes the claim, “The plan respects the values and ideals held by responsible gun owners while remaining within the scope of the Second Amendment.”

We’re sensing a trend. The newly emboldened gun prohibition lobby is feeling its oats.

They have money.

They have celebrity endorsements.

They have biased media outlets eager to advance their agenda.

They have elitist collaborators in a variety of fields who can’t fathom the necessity of self-defense (they “have people” for that, just like for cleaning their toilets, walking their dogs, fixing their cars, raising their kids, etc.).

They have an entertainment industry that makes billions of dollars by glorifying violence in film, music, graphic novels, and video games, and then piously lectures the rest of the country on the evils of guns and the NRA.

And they have a White House and presidential candidates eager to pander to them and do their bidding.

It’s a giddy time for groups like Oregon Ceasefire.

But when they start to – not just to exaggerate – but to portray the opposite of the truth as the truth itself, well, you get a sense of the people with whom you’re really dealing.

These are emotional, ideologically-driven people. Left to their own devices, they will reveal themselves. Unchecked, they will overplay their hand. They just can’t help themselves.

And so you have these examples, just like you had Hillary Clinton, who wants to be president of the United States of America, publicly advocating for the mandatory surrender of Americans’ firearms.

Ceasefire’s manifesto doesn’t really contain anything new. It’s just a compendium of gun controllers’ wish lists that have existed for years. You know, “universal background checks,” “microstamping,” biometric “smart guns,” prohibitive taxes on guns and ammunition, the banning of “military-style rifles and high-capacity magazines” (code for America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15, and the magazines that come with virtually every new pistol manufactured in the last 30 years). And it goes on … and on … and on … .

That’s how gun control works. Since it’s Halloween weekend, we could use the example of those bad guys from the 1970s and ‘80s horror movies. They just keep coming at you: lumbering, panting, slashing, seemingly moribund one minute, then rising the next, coming back again and again in increasingly contrived and implausible sequels.

It could seem almost funny, if what was at stake wasn’t so important.

Keep in mind that Ceasefire Oregon already has in its home state the law that Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown Group (the umbrella group for the nation’s leading gun control sugar daddy), calls the “single most effectivepolicy for keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people and saving lives.”  Oregon’s “universal background check” statute took effect August 9. That’s supposedly the “reasonable, common sense measure” that all gun controllers really want.

And then, on October 2, a young man with hatred in his heart committed an atrocity at an Oregon community college. The firearms he used were all obtained legally, after background checks. The “single most effective” gun control measure that the single most prominent gun control advocate promised will “save lives” utterly failed. The lie of gun control was revealed in the most unspeakable way imaginable.

Yet Ceasefire Oregon and likeminded gun control proponents not only didn’t blink, they exploited the tragedy to argue for more gun control.

So that’s it, America. This Halloween, the mask is off. The true face of the gun prohibition lobby is revealed for all to see. “Was that the boogeyman?” the beautiful heroine of one of those old scary movies asks. “As a matter of fact,” says the good guy with a gun who comes to her rescue, “it was.”

Hollywood super-villains aside, we know exactly what it takes to stop the gun control crowd.

It’s good men and women doing what they’ve done for over 200 years in America: standing with each other, their families, and their communities to protect and look out for one another, standing against the deceit, duplicity, and grandstanding of those arrayed against us to protect freedom for present and future generations.
