Oklahoma 2023 Session Adjourned Sine Die

Significant Funding for School Safety and NRA-Affiliated Gunsmithing Technology Program at Murray State College Approved!

The Oklahoma Legislature adjourned sine die from the 2023 regular legislative session. At the end of the budget process, there were two significant achievements directly impacting our cause that we are pleased to report:

  1.     School Safety Funding: The Oklahoma state budget includes a substantial allocation for school safety measures. Recognizing the importance of ensuring the well-being of our children and educational staff, the state has made a considerable investment in enhancing school security. This funding will go towards implementing effective safety protocols, improving infrastructure, and providing necessary resources to promote a secure learning environment for our future generations.
  2.     $10 Million Investment in NRA-Affiliated Gunsmithing Technology Program at Murray State College: We are proud to announce that the budget also includes a remarkable $10 million investment in the esteemed Gunsmithing Technology Degree Program at Murray State College. Through a longstanding partnership between Murray State College and the National Rifle Association, this program has been providing gunsmithing and law enforcement armorer training programs since 1994.Gunsmithing Today, it stands as one of the four NRA-endorsed gunsmithing schools in the nation and the school now offers the only Bachelor of Applied Technology degree in Gunsmithing Technology. Gunsmithing Technology | Murray State College

The importance of cultivating highly skilled workers in the firearm industry cannot be overstated, and the Gunsmithing Technology Program at Murray State College plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal. By continuing to invest in these programs, Oklahoma sets itself apart from other states and demonstrates its commitment to fostering economic development initiatives within our great state, for the firearm industry. A vibrant firearm industry is crucial to being able to exercise our rights.

As supporters of the Second Amendment and champions of our constitutional rights, we can proudly celebrate the achievements of this session. Our dedication to upholding the values of freedom and responsibility has resulted in positive strides for the firearm industry and the promotion of safety within our communities.

NRA thanks the legislators who played a role in making these accomplishments possible. Governor Stitt anticipated he will sign this into law. We applaud their commitment to protecting our rights and advancing the cause.

Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org for further updates and opportunities to get involved in safeguarding our Second Amendment rights. Together, we can continue to make a difference and secure a brighter future for our beloved state.

Thank you for your unwavering support.
