Following the trend of this legislative session, Colorado's semi-automatic ban turned FOID-bill has experienced yet another delay.
Last night, the House Judiciary Committee removed Senate Bill 25-003 from the hearing schedule for Wednesday, March 5th. This is the second delay the bill has faced in the House, repeating a trend of delays established in the Senate earlier this session.
Senate Bill 25-003 creates a "permit-to-purchase" scheme for banned semi-automatic firearm platforms. Coloradans who complete the Hunter's Safety Course or possess a concealed carry permit would be required to take 4 hours of firearms education, and individuals who possess neither would require 12 hours of education to apply for the purchase permit.
These delays are a direct result of your advocacy against this ban! Even with this positive momentum it is critical for all NRA Members and Second Amendment advocates in the Centennial Sate to stay engaged and contact your elected officials in opposition of SB 25-003! Please continue to contact Governor Polis' office at (303) 866-2471 or by email at [email protected]. Use your voice to oppose this unconstitutional bill and prevent it from advancing any further!
Additionally, House Bill 25-1238, which places undue restrictions on gun show vendors and organizers, has been laid over in the House on second reading.
We can anticipate anti-gun members of the General Assembly will continue their attacks on the Second Amendment. Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for future updates as the session progresses.
