Alaska: Gun Owner Financial Privacy Bill Heard in Committee

On Monday, the NRA provided invited testimony in support of Senate Bill 136, critical legislation that protects the privacy of firearm owners from discriminatory practices by financial institutions. SB 136 is anticipated to be heard again by the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee at a later date. Please use the Take Action button below to urge the committee’s support.

SB 136 prohibits the use of firearm-specific Merchant Category Codes that could be used to track lawful firearm and ammunition purchases or create de facto registries of gun owners. The bill also bars financial institutions and payment networks from discriminating against firearm retailers or disclosing transaction data collected in violation of this protection.
