Virginia: Special Session to Convene August 18th

Last week, Governor Ralph Northam announced that August 18^th will be the start date for the General Assembly to convene a special session. In his press conference, Gov. Northam cited budget issues due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and other items as the focus. While there have not been any indications that Gov. Northam or the anti-gun majority will use this special session for a renewed push towards comprehensive gun bans, your NRA will be actively monitoring the session.

Today, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois struck down provisions of the Protect Illinois Communities Act (PICA) that prohibit “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines” in an NRA-supported case, Barnett v. Raoul.
