House Joint Resolution 1034, introduced by Representative Kevin West, is a proposed amendment to Oklahoma’s state constitution that would further enshrine protections for arms in common use, ammunition, and firearm components to be used for protection, lawful hunting, and recreation. Additionally, the amendment would prohibit any law from imposing registration or special taxation upon the keeping of arms including the acquisition, ownership, possession, or transfer of arms, ammunition, or the components of arms or ammunition.
Once HJR 1034 passes through the state legislature the amendment would be brought before the people of Oklahoma for a popular vote.
